if theres one thing i love about ebay, its buying a 2000$ computer for 5 bucks. SO I DID THAT. it was supposed to be twice, once for a t40, the other for a t480s, but after a great bidding war that dragged the price up from 5 bucks, to 136. so i let the t480s go with a tear in my eye. BUT I GOT THE T40. i love the keyboard... havent found a ac adpater thats the right kind (and powerful enough! turns out my lamp uses the same kind, just a lot weaker). but not all hope was lost yet! i found another, shitter conditon t480s for just... 50 bucks. yayy... both arrived just before a family vaction (and a linux freak out), so i couldnt touch them until today. the t40 was set aside as i lacked charging for it as well as a torques bit to properly get inside (WHY IBM????), but with a visual inspection its quite the beaut. anyways, from there i moved onto the t480s. to begin i just popped the lid. no keyboard. next came plugging in. the led indicator for charging did nothing. huh. next usbc port. also nothing. well shit, did i just waste 50 bucks? (yes) i popped the lid to see if anything was wrong visually. nope. from there i tried to hook up the e570's battery to it. still no reaction. reality had finally set in and i began a tear down. the only "useful" things i got out of are a spare trackpad and another wlan card, which seems a little better then the one in the e570. so i threw that in the e570, works great. now that the t480s was a bust, time to look for another thinkpad. i landed on the t580. much more inline with the e570, while also giving me the backlit keyboard, wwan and greater processing power i desired. so i started to shop around for em, quite pricy, 128 was the lowest i could find. so im going to start saving to get one of these wonderous computers. see you then!
as of recent, i have grow disatisfied with waterfox and its customization, so i looked into other browsers. the first browser i looked into was pale moon which was almost perfect! the task bar customiaztion is amazing! so i began migration... then i tried using youtube. it wouldnt work.
then came floorp. i wanted more of that good good customization that came with pale moon and floorp was lacking, so i dropped it.
then i tried librewolf. this one was strange. i really didnt like it.
then i finally went back to pale moon and tried it on my mothers wifi. worked perfectly! it can be a little slughish at times, espacially with use of js (which the devs just wont fix for some reason), but i like how the task bar looks enough to stay.

quite possible my favorite thing about pale moon is how you can actually move the search bar around, allowing for a vastly more compact taskbar. a weird but fun quirk of palemoon is that it still uses xul add ons, which if your familiar with firefox pre version 57, you should remember. i only really have one issue with it, which i discussed earlier, being the issues with js. this will just straight up break some sites (such as monkeytype). i think this is only actually cosmetic, but i dont really know. id like to give a shout out to a bestie by the name of cosmica for mentioning palemoon in passing, causing me to lose my shit over browsers for 1.5 days. :)
without a doubt in my mind, the BEST kind of car racing is rally. BUT I DONT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THAT SO WERE TALKING ABOUT THE 2ND BEST. dirt track racing. i may have built a computer. the ram on my main laptop is freaking out. may she finally rest in piece after being abused for roughly 4 years. she was a good laptop, far from the greatest, but certainly a good one. itll run for about 5 minutes, then itll freak the fuck out and freeze. so i am now using a thinkpad e570 as my main. its running debain 12 with the kde environment. yes, i am linux daily driving. its been really nice so far! there have been some issues figuring out how to install things since this is my first time properly using it. now for the second part of the title and part of the reason for my neglect for this site. ive been working on archiving a WHOLE lot of one of my friends, shapeshifting dodo, art (among other things). if you have any interest in it, heres a link so, i got. 2 reccomndations. (that were good) yall are horrible at this. >:( those 2 being "install moebuntu" and "nas". i also got a digital signage idea from another bestie, so thats getting comboed with the nas. _10mil_ as you may know, or not, i dont know who actually reads this, ive come into the ownership of 2 desktops! you may also know about my server, a old dell netbook. well, theres some big tech shake ups happpening for me, with my first desktop[[s]] that are actually mine and the first time having excess computers. so, my brother told me about this game, mindwave. its still in early devlopment, BUT it looks super cool. its kinda like the warioware series. its a ton of fun! not very long as of current, but thats to be expected. anyways, go play it here! i had a few friends reccomend me some music, bagel, sior, colin and dodo to be exact. im going to review every song. this will take roughly 14 hours. sorry for taking so long! TwT so, ive made quite a few upgrades to my laptop over the past few weeks, so ive decided to go over them! for the frist upgrade, i took out my 2 sticks of 8gb ddr4 sodimm and swapped it for 2 16gb sticks. made my computer much snappier. after that we have what i did today, swapping my ssd. it was a lot easier than i thought it would be! very similar to ram, just the extra step of unscrewing it. my old ssd was 512gb, which is rather depressing considering i had a thumb drive that was half of that ; . ;). BUT! it is now a 2tb one! for the last "upgrade", i installed windows iot enterprise ltsc! its a stripped down version of windows 10 with none of the bloat and all of the fun stuff accessable. would reccomend migrating to it if your willing to. heres a little thing for reading this: thank you. since a bunch of me and tors friends also have websites, ive decided to go over them! first up is bagels website, which you can access here! it goes over bagels cool computers and some of the cool stuff he does with them! tor's a lot better friend with bagel than i am, but i still think his stuff is cool. second up is colin's website, cool hands! his is still pretty early in development, but its still kinda cool. wish he did something cool with the css... he hasnt done much with it yet, but after digging through tors dms's it seems he wants to. so id keep a eye on it. up next is smb! hes another one of tors friends, so i dont know him super well. but his websites, smb.im and smb.blog are pretty cool! his main site isnt done yet, much like colins. BUT his blog is really well done! he has a pretty modern style with tons of centered text and smooth edges. not my favorite style, but he does it well enough that i like it! lastly is lans, lans-px. his is the newest one im covering, at just about 4 days old. but hes done a pretty good job with it so far. its just a bunch of links to other sites for now, but lans still makes it look decent. this is a special piece for me, it being the first manga i properly read. its what dragged me down the first time. its a great read and pretty high up there in terms of my favorite media. it was also the second piece of media to make me cry, after grave of the fireflies. the art in it is beautiful and i sometimes just flick through it to look at the art. you can read it for free here. well, its been 3 years now. hm. not making a project this year. hard to belive i got into this stuff all the way back in 7th grade. ive made so much shit on that website. got banned quite a few times to. i think about 17 times? i_like-pie, i_like-cherrypie, i_like-flesh, 53street, totorosfriend7, torv3(might be tor_v3), the gibberish acc, popcornlover1998, the netheri/natsuki shit (did this as a joke, ended up getting obessed for a while ; . ;). so many accounts. i have a list somewhere.... here! nothing too interesting this week, we ate lots of candy. took some photos. enjoyed the HUGE amount of rain we got over the last 2 days. (it has been raining almost nonstop.) didnt have any huge bike rides, maybe next week.
first, a small intro to some classes of dirt track racing. at my local track, we have 4; showcar, neon (yes, like the dodge), open wheel and dirt. the showcars are equal to the "super stock"s, the neons are equal to stock, the open wheels are sprints and the dirts are dirts. all 4 are amazing, but the stock/neon races are my favorite. they put about 20~ (it varies on how many enters) and they basically have a rat race. its beautiful. you can barely go a lap without the yellow flag being drawn.
my favorite part of all of these races, without a doubt, is the noise. you just hear 6000~ combined horse power drift past you in a cloud of smoke. its deeply calming (if your a complete weirdo). the mud is also a ton of fun, you just get pelted whenever they come around. i also just love the cars themselves, like, look a sprint car and tell me it isnt adorable. its hard. (if your a complete werido). the dirt and showcars are also just.. mmmm! the liveries are on point and seeing all the small things between the cars (tires, condition, etc) is great fun.
(but actually i did)
this is my first time doing so! it was a good amount of fun, even if its not done yet, as i still need a few things. but we can talk about those later, what are the specs!
yeah, what are they. idk go look at computers or something. anyways, if you wanna know what i need, heres the list.
its not fully done yet, as youve probably guessed. its pretty much done now, all thats left as of current is what im currently watching.
in other news, i didnt get 2 desktops. i got 3 and 4 laptops. (2 i3 think centeres, one i5. 3 e570's and a toshibia sattilite. all cool machines) the server has already been set up and the setup and config for the batocera machine is finished, so all i have to focus on is the nas and moebuntu. as of right now the rufus drive for ubuntu is installing! ill be updating this blog with all the updates for the below blog. dont wanna clog the page.
so, im going to replace the netbook server with which ever of the 2 desktops scores better, then im gonna set tailscale back up on the choosen one. nothing super interesting there.
the netbook has a much more interesting path, im turning it into a batocera machine! ive already gotten to work on that, so rip to the netbook server. :( it served (just) me well. ive already gotten a few things onto it, super monkey ball (1 and 2!), the snes, genesis and nes libaries. along with a few other cool tricks. im going tinker with it quite a bit more, but so far its real nice!
now for the big question. i have a whole, completely unused computer. what to do with it?! ive already got a few suggestions from some friends, "run every active folding@home fork" - bestie, "upgrade it and use it as a normal pc" - bagel after being told i do not want to use it as a normal pc 4 times, "kys" - dodo. since those are all GREATTT ideas, im asking you for even worse ones! thats right! i want your ass ideas! you SHOULD know where to contact me, so step on it! theres only one thing i wont do, use it as a normal, plain desktop.
so, im going to cover 2 tools in this blog, yt-dlp and BandcampDownloader. both are safe, both work on windows.
bandcampdownloader is VERYY easy to use, just simply copy and paste a link in. i love how stupidly simple it is, theres nothing to get caught up and it grabs metadata. very happy with it.
yt-dlp is a MUCH tougher beast, butll do basiclly whatever you want. it has a whole ass wiki on it for all the commands and modifiers. by defualt, it will rip video instead of audio. but with --format [[format]], you can make it whatever you want. i choose mp3 because i dont want huge files, but you can choose wahtever you want! its great! theres so much shit to fuck with! if your wondering what setup i use, its "bestaudio -x --audio-format mp3 --audio-quality 320k --embed-thumbnail --add-metadata --postprocessor-args "-id3v2_version 3" [[url]]" it grabs metadata. it may be a littttleeeee slow. but it gets the job done.
